A Taste of Home

A Taste of Home

"My husband and I were born and raised in Canada, so when he was offered a job in the U.S., we reluctantly kissed our friends and family goodbye, to leave our home, a country that we love. I also had to say goodbye to Tim Horton's, and all of the warm memories that it held for me. Like how in 1997, my co-worker (and now best friend, Tracee), brought me my first Tim Horton's French Vanilla Cappuccino.

Fast forward to July 2010, my husband and I are heading to New York for our first time, (he for a conference, me for some sight-seeing), little did I know that that trip would give me a ""taste of home""! It started bright and early the first morning we were in the jungle that is the big apple. My husband left for his conference, I left for what I was expecting to be a 30 minute walk to catch a tour bus. Not exactly sure where I was going, and having developed a huge blister on my toe, I turned what I hoped to be the last corner, and there it was, like an oasis, a Tim Horton's!! What to do? I couldn't be late for my bus, so I sprinted the last block, found the bus, asked if I had time to go back, (which I thankfully did!), offered the bus driver and tour guide a coffee, and raced back to find my little piece of heaven! Once back to the bus, I relaxed, got a band-aid for my blister, and sat back to enjoy my ""taste of home""!

We were only in New York a couple more days, but we made the 30 minute trek again!

P.S.-We have lived in the U.S. for 7 years now, and to this day, whoever comes to visit from Canada, (whether it be Tracee, or in-laws, or other friends), when they ask if they can bring us anything, the answer is always...Tim Horton's coffee and cappuccino please!"
