Smile Cookie Challenge
Tim Hortons oven fresh chocolate chip cookies are extra sweet this week!
Tim Hortons Smile Cookies are back and on sale for $1 (plus tax) at the 95 Western NY stores starting August 12-17, 2009 (or while supplies last). The smiley face chocolate chip cookies have special meaning because all proceeds from the cookie sales will go to the Women's and Childrens Hospital. Tim Hortons hopes to raise $500,000 over 5 years to establish the Tim Horton Children's Center for Injury Care and Prevention.
This area will help treat the large numbers of children seen at the hospital with trauma related injuries. In addition out reach programs to help prevent such injuries will all be funded by this commitment.
"We are thrilled to support Women's and Children's Hospital," says Allanna Beaton, Tim Hortons Store Owner. "The Smile Cookie program is a combined community effort because it's our customers who come in to buy the cookies and help us raise funds to support this worthy cause."
"We are grateful that our local Tim Hortons stores have chosen the Women's and Children's Hospital to be the recipient of the proceeds from their Smile Cookie campaign," says Dr. Michael Caty, Chief, Pediatic Surgical Services. "Support from businesses like Tim Hortons allow us to provide the very best health care to children. This new program will extend our reach within Western NY and allow us to provide additional services to children"
Tim Hortons has been supporting local communities through the "Smile Cookie" program since 1996. The "Smile Cookie" program originally began in Hamilton, Ontario to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children's Hospital. Since then, it has expanded across Canada and the United States helping a variety of children's charities, hospitals and community programs.
Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo, a Kaleida Health facility and teaching hospital for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, is the regional center for specialized pediatric, perinatal and obstetrical services in Western New York and beyond.
