Seasonal positions for June, July and August are available in all Foundation camps in the areas of :
Camp Programming
Counselors are responsible for the 24-hour care of our campers and for teaching and leading most programs. We hire one counselor for every four campers.
- Must meet basic requirements for all employees
Assistant Coordinators are needed at the camp locations listed below and must also have the following qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- NLS certification
- Experience supervising and evaluating campers and staff
- Experience writing and delivering programs
- Assistant Day Camp Coordinator (All camp locations)
Assistant Resident Camp Coordinator (Tatamagouche and Kentucky ONLY)
Section Heads (St. George ONLY)
Program Coordinators
Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, scheduling and evaluating programs as well as supervising employees. We hire a number of different program coordinators in each of our camps. Requirements common to all Coordinator positions are:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- NLS certification
- Experience directing, supervising and evaluating employees
- Experience designing, coordinating, evaluating and maintaining high quality, camper focused programs
- Valid driver's license and driver's abstract
Additional requirements, by position, described below:
- Requirements as listed above
- Swim Instructor certification
- Small Craft Safety certification
- Field and/or instructional experience in rock climbing, white water paddling, horseback riding or hiking
- Wilderness First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and operating practices
- Experience with scheduling
- Extensive experience planning, implementing and supervising trip-based programs
- Ontario F-Class driver's license (or provincial/state equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and operating practices
- Extensive experience planning, implementing and supervising youth leadership programs
- Thorough understanding of adventure-based teaching concepts
- Familiar with challenge course facilitation
- Ontario F-Class driver's license (or provincial/state equivalent)
- Experience facilitating challenge course offerings
- Recognized high ropes certification for facilitation
- Sound understanding of ACCT standards
- Wilderness First Aid certification (or equivalent 40+hour course)
- Specialized training in one of these fields - horticulture, biology, botany, zoology, entomology, ecology or astronomy
- Experience teaching environmental education & outdoor living skills
- Experience teaching in one of these fine arts areas - visual arts, drama, music
- Experience with, or ability to learn ceramics, pottery and sculpting
- Experience with, or ability to learn digital photography and/or videography
- Training and experience with animal husbandry and modern farming techniques
- Experience operating farm equipment
Youth Leadership Program
There are three types of positions needed for this program. Requirements common to all three positions are:
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and operating practices
Additional requirements, by position, described below:
Trip Leaders are responsible for program delivery as well as the 24-hour care and safety of participants during preparation and while on the trip. One Trip Leader is hired for every four participants. Additional requirements are:
- CRCA recognized canoeing certification
- Extensive canoe trip log
Facilitators are responsible for the 24-hour care and safety of participants as well as the delivery of all aspects of the Leadership Program. One facilitator is hired for every five leadership participants. Additional requirements are:
- Experience implementing youth leadership programs through adventure-based and environmental education programs
- A driver's abstract
- An Ontario F-class driver's license or equivalent
Outdoor Pursuits
All outdoor pursuits staff must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Wilderness First Aid certification (or equivalent 40+ hour course)
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and operating practices
- Demonstrated ability / competency in area for which one was hired
Additional requirements, by position, described below:
Climbing instructors are responsible for the execution of a top-rope climbing program, which includes program design, camper instruction and management of site logistics. Additional requirements are:
- Experience setting top rope
- Experience instructing belay and basic movement skills
Rafting guides are responsible for the execution of interpretative paddling trips on the Kananaskis River (grade II), which includes daily set-up, camper instruction, on-river logistics and equipment maintenance. Additional requirements are:
- White Water Rafting Guide: SRT or Canadian Whitewater Association recognized swift water rescue certification
- Extensive white water paddling log
Wranglers are responsible for implementing an introductory riding program, which includes arena instruction and an overnight component. Additional requirements are:
- Ability to catch, lead, groom, tack and generally handle and care for horses without assistance
- Experience teaching novice western riding skills in an arena and on the trail
Health Care
Each camp requires the services of a Registered Nurse on-site for the duration of the summer. Our Nurses implement the camp Wellness Program in conjunction with the Camp Director, camp staff and local health care professionals. Requirements are:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Registered nurse licensed to practice in the province/state employed
- An understanding of holistic health in order to develop the camp Wellness Program
- Experience in the areas of Pediatrics, Emergency Response and/or work in remote locations are an asset
The Assistant Wellness Coordinator is responsible for supporting the RN in the delivery of the Wellness Program. Typical duties may include medication management, First-Aid and camper management, as dictated by provincial legislation. Requirements are:
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Attending college or University in an RN or RPN program
- Experience working with children
Food Services
Each camp hires a full Food Services team made up of cooks, prep cooks and dishwashers, responsible for preparing and serving meals and snacks for 140-200 people every day. Additional requirements are:
- Experience in the food service industry
Maintenance
Each camp hires seasonal groundskeepers to help with the maintenance of the grounds and gardens. Camp sites range from 50 to 400 acres. Additional requirements are:
- Experience with lawn care and gardening is an asset
Housekeeping
Housekeeping employees are needed in each camp to clean and do laundry. Additional requirements are:
- Experience in the hotel or resort industry is an asset.
