Environmental Pillar
The Tim Hortons Coffee Partnership focuses on teaching environmentally responsible coffee farming practices. This includes educating coffee farmers on ways to grow and process environmentally sustainable coffee. Training covers soil analysis for effective fertilizer use, elimination of harmful pesticides, the importance of shade, conservation of biodiversity and soil-erosion prevention strategies.
One of the most important areas of focus in this category is water - one of the coffee farmer's most precious resources. The Tim Hortons Coffee Partnership teaches coffee farmers in pollution prevention practices and how to conserve and recycle water.
