
Don Schroeder
President and CEO
In March 2008, Donald B. Schroeder was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Tim Hortons and a member of the THI Board of Directors.
Mr. Schroeder joined Tim Hortons in 1991, holding several positions within the Company including Executive Vice President of Administration responsible for Human Resources, Distribution, Legal, Real Estate and Construction and Manufacturing and Vice President of Human Resources and International Development. Upon the separation of the company from Wendy's, Mr. Schroeder also assumed the role of General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Schroeder also served as the President of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation from 1991 to 2008.
Mr. Schroeder's involvement with Tim Hortons began in the 1970's, both as legal counsel to a number of franchisees and acting in several corporate cases on behalf of The TDL Group, operators of the chain. Together with two of his brothers he then became a franchisee of a number of stores, giving him a unique perspective on the business.
Under Mr. Schroeder's leadership the Tim Hortons Sustainable Coffee Program was formed. Coffee growers and their families in Guatemala, Brazil and Columbia benefit from programs that offer direct financial assistance, technical training, environmental management and proper farming techniques to improve the quality and quantity of coffee produced and assist them in getting the coffee to market at the best time and at the best price possible.
Mr. Schroeder was born in Oakville, Ontario in 1946. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Laws in 1969 and subsequently received his Master of Laws degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1978. Following his call to the bar in the province of Ontario in 1971, he practiced corporate, commercial and income tax law in the City of Hamilton with the law firm of Schroeder & Hawkins.
Mr. Schroeder resides in Burlington, Ontario and enjoys golfing and skiing with his daughter.
