Don Schroeder

President and CEO

Don Schroeder was born in Oakville, Ontario in 1946.  Don graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Laws in 1969 and subsequently received his Master of Laws degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1978.  Following his call to the bar in the province of Ontario in 1971, Don practiced corporate, commercial and income tax law in the City of Hamilton with the law firm of Schroeder & Hawkins.

Don's involvement with Tim Hortons began in the 1970's, both as legal counsel to a number of franchisees and acting in several corporate cases on behalf of The TDL Group, operators of the chain. Together with his brothers Don then became a franchisee of a number of stores, giving him a unique perspective on the business.

In 1991, Don gave up his law practice and joined The TDL Group Corp. as Vice President of Human Resources and International Development.  He was named Executive Vice President, Administration in 1995. With accountability for Human Resources, Distribution, Legal, Real Estate and Construction and Manufacturing, Don worked closely with the Board of Directors.  In 2008 Don was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer and became a member of the Board of Directors.

Under Don's leadership the Tim Hortons Coffee Sustainability program was formed. Coffee growers and their families in Guatemala, Brazil and Columbia benefit from programs that offer direct financial assistance, technical training, environmental management and proper farming techniques to improve the quality and quantity of coffee produced and assist them in getting the best price possible.

Don has been a director of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation since the formation of the Board.  He assumed the position of President of the Foundation in 1991. The Tim Horton Children's Foundation has grown to include six camps in North America serving over 13,000 children every year.

Don resides in Burlington, Ontario and enjoys golfing and skiing with his daughter.
