2008 Ontario Envirothon Provincial Competition

2008 Ontario Envirothon Provincial Competition

This past spring (May 7 - 10), Tim Hortons sponsored the 2008 Ontario Envirothon Provincial Competition.  More than 100 students from schools across Ontario filled the cabins at Tim Horton Onondaga Farms in St. George, Ontario to participate in hands-on learning activities including the restoration of a nearby conservation area.  This year's competition called 'Leave No Footprints' challenged students to find different ways to reduce their environmental footprint.

The Envirothon Program is a "team sport" for environmental smarts offered by the Ontario Forestry Association. Annually, over 5,000 students from various regions across Ontario participate and learn more about the environment through unique outdoor competitions.  Winning teams from each region move on to take part in a provincial competition.  The team that wins the provincial competition will represent Ontario at the North American competition in July 2008.
