Levels 2, 3 & 4: Tim Horton Memorial Camp
Levels 2, 3 and 4 are based out of the Tim Horton Memorial Camp in Parry Sound, Ontario. Located approximately three hours north of Toronto, it is the ideal base camp for wilderness canoe trips into the Georgian Bay, Killarney and Algonquin Park regions of central Ontario.
Level 2: Wilderness Expedition
During "Wilderness Expedition," participants will be challenged to develop leadership, communication, initiative and teamwork skills. With the help of canoe trip leaders, participants will solidify their canoe tripping skills, participate in trust exercises and discuss different leadership styles. Four of the ten days at camp will be spent in the wilderness on an extended canoe trip exploring the different regions of Northern Ontario.
Level 3: Self-Discovery
This level addresses the questions: "Who am I? Where do I want to go? How do I get there?" It is a transition from thinking about the best interests of the group to a shared focus on self and others. Components include conflict resolution, goal setting and skill sharing. Six of the ten days at camp will be spent in the wilderness, utilizing the natural environment and the wonders of the outdoor classroom.
Level 4: Climbing to Higher Ground
In "Climbing to Higher Ground," participants will be involved in workshops that address life planning skills, planning fundamentals and where to look for support. Participants will also be involved in leadership workshops, which offer the opportunity to grow and learn as a group. Topics include role modelling, overcoming obstacles and decision making. These outcomes will be enhanced through the trip back into the wilderness on an extended seven-day canoe trip.
