Don Schroeder was born in Oakville, Ontario in 1946. Don graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Laws in 1969 and subsequently received his Master of Laws degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1978. Following his call to the bar in the province of Ontario in 1971, Don practiced corporate, commercial and income tax law in the City of Hamilton with the law firm of Schroeder & Hawkins.
Don's involvement with Tim Hortons began as legal counsel to a number of franchisees and the company itself.
In 1991, Don gave up his law practice and joined The TDL Group Corp. as Vice President of Human Resources and International Development. He was named Executive Vice President of Administration in 1995 responsible for Human Resources, Administration, Manufacturing, Distribution and Purchasing.
An essential project for Tim Hortons is also one close to Don's heart, the Coffee Sustainability program. Under Don's leadership coffee growers in Guatemala, Brazil and Columbia benefit from Tim Hortons programs that offer direct financial assistance, technical training, environmental management and proper farming techniques to improve the quality and quantity of coffee produced and assist farmers in getting the best price possible.
Don has been a director of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation since the formation of the Board. He assumed the position of President of the Foundation in 1991.
Don played an active role in the negotiation and completion of the Wendy's / Tim Hortons merger and subsequent spin-off.
Don resides in Burlington, Ontario and enjoys golfing and skiing with his daughter.
